I don't know why I felt compelled to torture him so. :( Thanks for reading!

How sad for poor Remus. :(

Excellent drabble!

The line where he's reminded that this world isn't for him, and the sense that he's fighting despair as well as rejection when he hopes he hasn't exhausted all options in his own world, hits very hard. Poor Remus indeed. That rumble of thunder seems very ominous for his future. Great title for this drabble - though it's sad as well!

I thought you'd appreciate that while I was writing this I once again got all muddled up about what Remus was doing all those years when no one knew he was a werewolf and he still couldn't find work (or keep it). It still makes no sense to me!

But ignoring the illogic of the basic premise... Thank you very much, I'm so pleased you thought that line resonated, as it was one of my starting points here. And I'm so glad I didn't change the title at the last moment as I almost did! Unfortunately I've seen a lot of people lately standing on corners holding "will work for food" signs. :( "Too poor," I think, is Remus' most compelling argument. (Although if he'd said "too ill" instead of "too dangerous," that one might have won out.

Very timely in today's world. I know so many people who would take ANY job they could get. Makes Remus seem all the more "Human".

Thank you very much. I was definitely going for that current events sort of realism for this one. *hugs Remus*

I really like this take on that (striking) prompt. Poor Remus -- desperate enough to take chances in a Muggle environment, but even they won't take a chance on him. I can see why he wasn't a first choice for hard labor, though...

The details of the cold and wet are really effective here to set the scene as well as the mood. Brr!

Why, thank you! It's a great image, isn't it? I was really taken with it when godricgal and I were hunting for prompts. I'd been looking for gardening images, and that one jumped out at me from the page, though I didn't think of Remus for it till I looked at the prompt this morning. (I've been trying not to give the prompts any thought till they're posted, so as not to be ad unfair advantage! Luckily I have Mommy Brain and have forgotten them all!)

Really appreciate you reading and taking the time to comment.
