I had to read that twice (because I got Little Dorrit's little woman stuck in my head...)

But WOW! Really great idea, and wonderful execution. It really fits in with Dickens's style at that point in the story, I think.

Thank you so much! I know it's confusing, especially since the figure at the door in Dickens's version WAS Amy. I just turned her into . . . someone else. :-) I'm glad it wasn't too confusing to figure out!

I'm so honored and humbled that you think so! Thank you!

I had a bit of help from a friend who wrote a "How to Write Like Dickens" tutorial. :-) Usually in fanfics, I don't even try to imitate the style of the original writer, because it's so difficult to do. But since I was starting this one with some of Dickens's own sentences, I felt I should try to do it this time!
