I had to reread this one a couple of times to absorb your imagery. It is shear beauty and utter complete desolation.

Until the rebirth:
Somewhere deep inside me a wildfire burns, invincible summer, consuming the winter that's frozen me. Out of the ashes a new me rises, springing forth into the big, cold universe.

The star in my belly is about to go nova. I'll never know whoever it is I'm becoming: butterfly or phoenix, angel or fool.

Thank you for sharing.

I really appreciate your comment and the time you took to let the images seep in.

The rebirth he faces is almost as devastating as all the rest, but in fact, he does have the certainty of hope.

I just watched The Second Coming... which is a very interesting lens through which to view RTD's project in Who. o_O

This is absolutely stunning. And sad. Poor Ten. I loved the imagery you conjured up.

Ah my dear mad Doctor, living again and again.

(aching to pull Rose unto him ;) )

More beauty - more thanks for it. :D

This is lovely. I'm not up to date on the canon yet--somewhere in early s4, so I think the details go over my head, but still. The Doctor's voice is pitch-perfect, as is his meditation on life and loss and balance. This in particular struck me:

I want to believe in summer, like the butterfly believes, winging its way south, laying its eggs before dying. I want to believe like the oak believes, dropping its acorns as the worm gnaws away at its roots.

Dude, I want to believe in summer too!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.

Thanks so much for your lovely words!

This takes place after the 09 Specials, which are like the extension to s4 and are very very bleak. The End of Time is the last special and it is kind of a tour de force. They're available as rentals from Amazon.

This piece was straight from the heart for me. Ten is a beautiful and tragic figure.
