Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover (part 25)

Things were finally starting to look up again. Not just for me but for all of us.

Dylan had started to open up, he was going to the gym regularly to help with his stress of the situation and he and Jenna had started to talk more. He insisted that they were just friends but you could tell that whenever she popped over there was a slight glint in both their eyes.

Sian had been having more work from her job which was a good thing because she said that it meant she was moving up and getting things done.

I was back at college and even though I was still restricted with my walking I was still able to continue writing and working. My mind wondered about a lot on various different things but I tried my best at keeping my head down.

The thing that I was missing the most though was jujitsu. It really helped me and it was the thing that brought Sian and I together along with a few other people. Dylan still went while Sian and I stayed at home. I encouraged her to go but she insisted that she stayed with me. I wanted to go and watch so I could at least learn the theory and then put it all into practice when I could.

“Sian why can’t I come with you guys?” I moaned.

It was the night of the jujitsu class again and Dylan had told Sian that the teacher had said that if she wanted to continue then it would be beneficial for her to come back and do as many classes as she could.

Sian had taken a keen interest in jujitsu as well and I think I knew why; it was around that time where I was beginning to be a pain for her and she thought it was some lesbian pedo stalker so she needed the skills to defend herself in the event that I might put my name into practice.....that didn’t happen of course.

“Becauseeeee baby, you need to rest still. You can’t do anything drastic with your leg like that”, Sian tried explaining but I couldn’t see why I had to stay!

“I wanna watch!” I started saying like a little kid.

“Jenna’s got a cold so she’s not going. We thought you guys could keep each other company”, Dylan smiled.

“I don’t need a fucking baby sitter guys!”

“You’re not being fucking baby sat, babe! You’re keeping Jenna company.”

“By her coming over here? Isn’t that meant to be the other way around Sian?”

“Soph, just go along with it okay? You two were good friends”, Sian beamed.

“Yea I remember”, I mumbled.

“You better not be like this when she gets here, Sophie.”

“God you too are starting to sound like my mom and dad”, I mumbled again.

“We won’t be back too late babe”, Sian mocked, giving me a wink as she opened the door. “Hey Jenna, good timing. Now, Sophie’s bed time is at 9, give her something to eat just before she goes to settle her. And you might wanna slip in some rum to numb her, she’s feeling a little cranky tonight”, Sian explained to Jenna directly while I was just sat on the sofa, open mouthed. “Bye babe!”

“So...what bed time story do you want me to read ya Sophie?”

“Was that the door?”

“Yea? Hello?”

“Dylan?!”

“Oh shit. Soph, sit down.”

“Don’t tell me what to fucking do Jenna! My best mate has bruises all over his face and you expect me to just sit there?! Dylan, what the hell happened?!”

Sian and Dylan returned to the flat sheepishly with their heads down. As soon as they emerged into the room and Sian stepped to the side, it was clear as to why they were acting so glum; Dylan had visible bruises poking up from his face. His one eye was swollen, the other side of his cheek was red along with a busted lip which looked like a combination of both.

His face was completed with a frown, almost like the one that a teenage boy would have after he’s been told off and Sian seemed to look like the one who told him off in all of this. Sian’s face was in slight contrast; it was clean but had a slight glint to it like she had been running or working out, her eyes were down and sympathetic and showed off a sombre mood. I noticed that she was fiddling with the sleeves a little and had her arms close together; a look that said that was closed off, hidden and wanted protection.

“Sophie, calm down”, Sian started timidly.

“Calm down? What the fuck are you on about Sian?! My best friend has come home looking like he’s just had a beating from the fucking mafia!”

“It happened at jujitsu!” Dylan shouted back, trying to be calm but wanting to get his point across to me as well.

“Yea right, this sort of thing doesn’t happen at jujitsu Dil!”

“S-Soph, just...”, Sian stuttered, clearly in a panic.

“Sophie, things can get carried away at jujitsu. We have mini tournaments sometimes between the best in the class and it-it s-sometimes causes them umm the opponents to take whatever they’ve got to prove that they can stay at the top of their game”, Jenna explained calmly, holding my shoulders to steady me.

I seriously didn’t know what to believe. The looks on all their faces seemed to say more than they were. The atmosphere in the room felt like a massive give away not to mention the way they were all saying their piece; every one of their explanations seemed defensive, not confident enough and too overly explained as if to prove something.

“Sophie, we knew you were gonna be like this. This is why we wanted to explain to you properly but Jenna was completely right; there was a mini fight between Dylan and the umm .... “

“James.”

“Yes, um James the other bloke, Dylan wanted him to fight him proper like and they were both as bad as each other”, Sian tried laughing.

“Soph, don’t worry. It wasn’t anything serious. I’m a tough cookie remember, its gona take a lot more to break me down”, he winked as he came over and gave me a reassuring hug and kiss on her head. I obviously returned the gesture, even though I was angry at him for getting himself into this state.

“I’m still not happy about this”, I simply said into his tight shoulder, glancing at Sian behind him. She looked worried and pre-occupied by as soon as she felt her eyes on me, she gave me a winning smile.

“Right well...I best be off”, Jenna perked up.

“Ohh, thanks for tonight Jen”, Sian smiled weakly.

“No problem at all. Thanks for Sophie keeping me company”, she smiled back brightly, while collecting her belongings.

“I’ll walk you to the door”, Dylan offered.

“Soph, we better get to bed. I’m shattered”, Sian yawned.

“I know what you’re trying to do Sian. I’m not dropping this”, I said assertively, holding my look on her a little longer before hobbling off to the bedroom. Just before I entered however, I took a glance over to the door and noticed that Dylan and Jenna were whispering. She touched his face gently and he turned away slightly from the tenderness of the marks.

I was feeling very suspicious of everything that was going on. I wanted to find out what was going on because paranoia isn’t a good thing to have on your conscience.

And neither is a secret.

That’s why I can tell.

I continued into the room and slumped onto the bed. Sian soon followed after and joined me; lying on her belly, propped up on her elbows to hold her body and that’s when I noticed.

I frowned at Sian’s arms and turned from my back onto my belly and just simply analysed them.

Sian looked down, noticing that I was staring at her and quickly brushed her hand over covering it up.

“How is it, Sian that your arms seem to have gain more muscles quite miraculously as well as Dylan’s?”

“Its just because I’m holding myself up Soph”, Sian laughed off.

“No, they seem more tense. You don’t get that kind of tense.....ness....whatever just by leaning on a bed”, I challenged her but tried to keep my tone calm.

“Sophie, it’s just because I was working out and they seem more .... I dunno .... bulky?” she shrugged off.

“Hmm I guess”, I pondered, actually wondering if that was just the case.

“Babe, please. Don’t worry about a thing. Everything’s under control”, she winked, leaning in to give me a peck on the lips.

I leaned in as Sian tried to move out. She didn’t seem to be trying too hard to disconnect the kiss. And I knew she didn’t want to either as I felt her smile into it, which made me smile as well, encouraging and inviting me to continue even more.

Sian pulled away from the kiss with her eyes still droopy and said, “What ya doing babe?” with a wide smile, biting her lip.

“Kissing my girlfriend, is that a problem?” I replied smugly.

“Girlfriend?” Sian asked in surprise as her eyes popped open. “We...never actually said anything about that.”

“Oh shit.”

“No, no its okay.”

“I didn’t mean to say anything out of place just....kinda feels like it when we’ve been acting this way”, I said embarrassed, holding my hands to my newly reddened face.

“Babe, Soph, its okay”, Sian reassured me, grabbing my hands and pulling them away from my face by kissing them. “It kinda does feel like we are together since we spend all of our time with each other anyways. It was adorable. You’re adorable. And I would wanna call you my girlfriend. I just never thought because I thought we were happy the way we were and well...I never actually thought of it.”

“Soo....?” I said angelically.

“Soo...Sophie, will you do me the incredibly honour of being my fantastic, gorgeous, adorable girlfriend?”

“Ummm”, I pondered her question, teasing Sian.

“Hey!” she slapped me playfully.

“Of course I will!” I finally said gleefully.

She grabbed me around my neck and rolled on top of me, tickling me for teasing her as I tried to defend myself and tickle her back. It was no use, she was tickling me on my bare skin now and she managed to get her hands under my top. I gasped at the contact between my giggles and she raised her eye brows knowingly and a shot of adrenaline rushed through my body as she did so.

Sian’s hands stopped tickling and started roaming, all over her my torso, placing her palms on my slender side, moving them up and going down with only her fingertips at the contact. My body automatically made my back arch and Sian took the opportunity to reach around and lift my top up even more. She brought me closer as I helped her, my legs being separated to either side of Sian’s body while she manoeuvred herself inwards.

Sian used her fingertips to make my back arch even up towards her, dragging her nails down which resulted into my heart rate increasing and a puff of breath escaping my already dry mouth.

With her help, my body lifted so I was able to drape my arms around Sian’s neck and pull myself even closer to her body. I kissed her moist lips and felt a lot of love radiate from this as well as a lot of heat. By now, I was pretty much straddling Sian, sitting on her lap almost as she held me up, placing her hands on my bum, squeezing it slightly but enough for me to feel it and get an effect from it.

“Hey guys, Jenna’s gone now so...WHAT?!”

“Dil!”

“Fuck sake guys, I thought we said no sex while the other is in the house!” he shouted, covering his eyes dramatically, turning his back on us.

“We weren’t having sex!” I shouted back, moving away from Sian and dragging my top back down.

“Didn’t look like it to me!” he shouted, turning his head slightly.

“Dylan you’ve got nout to worry about! Me and Soph have never had sex!” Sian giggled.

“Really?” he turned around shocked.

“Really really”, she replied widening her eyes.

“Well....that’s good to know”, he said in a sulky manor.

“Yes, now can you leave please? I think we could all do with a good night’s sleep”, I encouraged.

“How can I be sure that you guys aren’t gona continue whatever it was what you were doing after this door is closed again?”

Sian and I both looked at each other and shrugged.

“You don’t”, Sian teased.
