~I’m trying to figure out how I’m still here. I mean, Tom Welling booked a gig, surely this means that the world has ended. Is this Purgatory? Is this a “Lost” flash-sideways? Am I really married to Idris Elba in this alternate universe (I hope. I hope. I hope ( Read more... )

As soon as the casting announcement came out, I read the spoilers for "The Choice" and it sounds terrible. Not just a fluffy love triangle; the latter half of the book goes melodrama in a big, implausible way.

However...as Tom isn't stuck playing the Perfect Noble Love Interest, maybe he'll get to have some fun and snark a little from the sidelines? The saving grace is the movie is almost guaranteed to be better than the book. And if his character disappears after the first half, I can walk out halfway through!

I’ve had a feeling for a while now -and this interview cements it-- that all of Tom’s claims of femininity means one of two things: that he’ll likely come out as transgender by the time he’s sixty years old or, likelier, that he’s allowed gender norms to define him and that has caused him great emotional harmVery interesting. He does come across as having some turmoil (& apparently isn't an easy presence on set.) Hope he finds his happiness ( ... )

Very interesting. He does come across as having some turmoil (& apparently isn't an easy presence on set.) Hope he finds his happiness. He says he's in therapy and has been in it for a very long time both couples and individual and it seems this warring within hasn't dissipated. I just wonder what he talks about in therapy because if it isn't his hang ups and pressures of gender and societal expectations I don't think it's of much service to him. When he talks so much about not feeling manly and feeling scared of ( ... )
