Oscars, Randomnoscity...

I’ve been talking to friends about the Oscar season bearing down (three and a half months to go until Oscars) and to me there aren’t many films or performances that I think will be nominated. With ten slots for Best Picture I am hard pressed to find five films that I think will be put up. But just when one thinks that’s a problem, another problem ( Read more... )

As a fan of Leo's, I really want him to win an oscar (I would've given it to him for The Departed, but he wasn't even nominated). But this film just doesn't seem to be up to snuff. Maybe he'll win for Gatsby?

Tom Hardy, yum? But the previews for the movie he did with Chris Pine look absolutely awful, and both men seem entirely too hot to be fighting over Resse Witherspoon. Olivia Wilde maybe. But seriously sex appeal lacking Reese? Not so much.

Yeah, I'm continuing to ignore Henry Cavill.

Sean Bean and Lena Headey would be a smoking hot couple.

*Kicks stupid Tom for not working*

I think Gatsby may be the one for him. It's certainly can't be this. If he gets the nod and if he wins it'll be because the voters just want to get him out of the way and stop the narrative of him being a Susan Lucci with nominations and no wins.

I want to see the film. It looks like a fun mix of action and comedy, but I totally agree about the Reese bit.

I'll likely be a fan of his other work but I'm still not sold on him as Superman or "Man of Steel" as a whole.

Sean Bean and Lena Headey would be a smoking hot couple. Cersei should've tried ( ... )

The Too Good for this World, Sean Bean:

Too Good for the Movies too.

Someone in the comments calls him the Kenny of Movies.

"Those bastards killed Sean Bean!"

He has some awesomely gruesome death scenes!LOL! He and Jeffrey Dean Morgan should become buddies.Though JDM has to suffer more deaths to catch up with Sean.

I heard Billy Crystal's going to host. I heard he did a good job last time but it seems like it's going to be such a rush job.

Yep, he's the host again. After he appeared briefly last year people were wondering if he'd be asked back. With Eddie out the picture it all lined up perfectly. The strange thing is that the Academy wanted to court a younger audience by getting younger hosts like James Franco and Anne Hathaway and with Brett Ratner who would've brought in a hipper crowd and both have proved disastrous so they're going back to the basics.

I haven't see the series but one of the major problems with the horror genre is that so many stories demand that the protagonists have absolutely no sense of self-preservation. It's a bit like how Timothy Treadwell camped out without a flare gun or bear spray or an electric fence in grizzly country while 99.9% of people wouldn't be out there in the first place, even if they had all 3. Yes, like major situations that you really have to have a amazing excuse for putting yourself in. Week ( ... )

OT, but I read this and immediately thought of you! Thomas Dekker on Gale Harold:

Q: What’s it like to work with Gale Harold?
Thomas: Gale is a truly brilliant man, sometimes in a staggering and head turning way. I am stunned by his versatility and fearlessness when it comes to character choices and 100% commitment to performance. I don’t think we’ve shared a single conversation that was not about art, mainly based on music and theatre, two areas in which his education is mind blowing. I’ve learned a lot from his beguiling and somewhat confusing dissertation/conversations. Thus I am proud to call him a friend and tutor.

OMG, it's the meeting of the minds with those two. And when you even baffle Dekker, that means you're on some out there thinking. I love it! Thanks for the link.

"It’s like a View Master slide come to life" is a great recommendation, because I own one and still buy slides for it.
Tarsem Singh knows how to make stunning visuals, can't wait to see it in 3D.

"Gale is still doing his thing on “The Secret Circle”…I assume. I stopped watching"
I give it a couple or more episodes before I do the same.
Not a lot happens, it's light on magic, it's light on dangerous situations so the only thing that could save it is chemistry between members of the ensemble cast, but that is non-existent.

So a new witch is coming to the VD town? I hope she's there to replace Bonnie. That show needs a kick-ass witch like: her grandmother, the witch that helped Claus or that witch that got killed by Damon (the gorgeous Gina Torres).

I want to get one again. Every time I see one I think "why don't I have one again?" I loved the View Master. I had a Scooby Doo one and a Disney one, a bunch of them. Then I would chew on them. But it was great fun.

I really enjoyed it on the visual level. The story is a bit wanting but it's magnificent to look at.

The kids for the most part are the worst. And I'm just not feeling Dekker's dopey, mopish character. He's John Connor man of action! I need more of that.
