don't read if you haven't seen the Avengers. but really it's not a spoiler per se, it's a hinty hint to the next movie because of something that happened during the end credits. this character was not in the movie. but if you want to see it revealed via the movie, and not have it spoiled here, don't read the cut ( Read more... )

Not spoilery. really. tchwrtr June 4 2012, 21:00:29 UTC
I didn't even wait that long after I'd seen it--I recognized him as....someone...and HAD to know who. So I looked him up that night.

Then spent the next hour in Wikipedia learning about various superheroes and bad guys.

OOO! PLEASE tell me that you stayed to the END of the credits?!?

i think what i really and truly liked about this movie was the GENUINE laughter and appreciation from the audience.

our theatre wasn't packed, but everyone there loved it. we applauded!!! SPONTANEOUS APPLAUSE! at a MOVIE!!! i can't recall the last time that happened and it happened multiple times during the show! whether it was a one-liner or a good punch or what-have-you, it was fabulous to be overcome by the urge to clap and laugh and cheer and be joined by others who had the same need. :)

not particularly. it's nice to see the characters "again" after seeing Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America, but the one that follows closest like a need-to-know sequel is Thor.

they refer to Captain America's history a few times during the movie, but the plot of The Avengers doesn't rely on your knowing the plot of the recent Captain America movie. i think you can figure it out without having seen it.

Iron Man is still Iron Man in this movie.

so you can catch up on those histories later. you'll probably want to after seeing this one.

you DO NOT need see The Hulk's previous incarnations. they are totally unrelated stories and actors and one of them was beyond terrible. this may be my favourite Hulk. i am grown rather fond of him. :)

eventually falling in love with its embodiment, Mistress Death

That's why Thanos grins maliciously when The Other says to fight the humans would be "to court Death".

Also: AVENGERS!!!!!!!!!! *FLAIL*
