Umm...hi?

I came back here because I wanted to say something, and facebook, where I've been mostly hanging out, doesn't seem the place to do it.

The link (and yes, I'm aware this is likely a dead horse by now, and no, I haven't read the Friends page yet. It's been six months and Wil's blog is dumping again): Sorkin/Palin nonsenseFirst of all, ( Read more... )

Thanks for a fair-minded post. I don't agree with Palin's politics either. But I think if she were really as bad as painted, people would be criticizing her for real things -- not things like this, or misquotes.

Palin has been criticized for real things--for example, she resigned from her governor position rather than face ethics issues for which she has been confronted--but she so polarizes people that for some, anything she does is bad.

I think, also, that Dems, lefts and liberals (not always the same thing) are so tired of defending against personal and sarcastic attacks from the right that they are willing to play the same game. They almost have to play the same game, because there's a large voting contingent of Americans who find such attacks amusing. They controlled politics for a number of years. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have become successful entertainers just for that reason.

The thing is, you can't play the Colbert/Stewart game unless are you know, or appear to know what you're talking about. Sorkin apparently doesn't, in this case.

I'm glad you posted...I think of you a lot!

I don't like Palin either, but I don't think hunting or butchering your own meat makes you a monster. I almost think it's worse when people are deliberately obtuse about where their burger came from.
