Hanging in there...

Hi everyone! I've been seriously checked out from lj recently, but I'm still alive, and doing well, if not a little overstretched. I'm busily attempting to graduate, and figure out my future plans while still attempting to enjoy myself. Things with James are going wonderfully, and he is one of the main reasons I haven't completely lost it. So, here ( Read more... )

I suddenly understood why people like the SCA so much. I didn't really understand it before that. Twas all kinds of nifty. I have now actually got an SCA membership...

One of us! One of us!

You're going to Pennsic XXXVI, right? Seems everyone else I know can't make it this year...

I'm not sure. If I get into the residency, I'll be able to come down for a weekend at most, as I will be in a full time graduate program. James and I will hopefully be going to the Great Northeastern war though. I may have to skip a year of pennsic, but then I'll have my summers off for the rest of my career.

Yay! Dawnfeather posted! :-) Glad to hear things are coming together. I should introduce you to helwen and fitzw, who are also MA SCAfolk working on living lightly on the land.

:-D what nifty folks! You continue to provide me with all sorts of wonderful connections. I just read the frog towel exchange. That's a beautiful beautiful thing. Sounds like you guys are doing well. Cheers! And get yourselves out here for a romp through the library of doom before I graduate!!

I was thinking April 14th, but that's Coronation in Springfield--unless we could do Sunday with you at the library? My mom's willing to babysit N (actually she's probably ready to move out here for the weekend if that's easier for us to leave him with her :))

I didn't know if things were crazy enough that you'd want to daytrip the event with us (likely just during the day, or part thereof) and we could do library things after/around that so you'd be able to get done what you need to do. I think that may also be a MA holiday weekend, so wasn't sure about library hours.

What do you think?

Anything is fine really. I'm completely insane with work, but am flexible. Tell me the weekend, and it shall be done. There is a place for you to sleep here if you wish it. I'll be out here until the end of May. Cheers!

Hi! Got your post in my LJ. I'm Elwynne (Heather Gray), we met at Hrim Schola, I believe. If you were at the weaving round table, I'm the one who was sitting next to Peregrinning and had the pieces of weaving with me, including the fake fur sample.

I don't have any instant messaging capability, but I do have email:

Hooray for the Sam. She is mightily nifty, and smites things which fall short of awesomeness. I shall bring to her my snuggles in the second week of April. :)

*hugs*

If the Boston Teacher Residency thing doesn't work out, Parker Charter School in Devens, MA has a similar program called the New Teacher's Collaborative: http://www.parker.org/ntc/

I think it's a really great school. I've never been there or taught there, but I know a number of people who graduated from there and got a lot out of it. This one would require a car to commute to, though.

of course, you said elementary school... Parker is a high school. But still, if other things don't work out, it is an option.
