I started to do this (and still intend to keep going, although it might take me a decade or more). I recommend "I Remember You" by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir from Iceland. It's very Nordic and chilly and represents the country very well, in addition to being quite a good read.

Excellent--thank you! I have lots of Iceland in the form of the Eddas and sagas ... but I'm only counting things written within the last 100 years. :D

If you need any countries that I have filled and want to know if the books I listed are any good, let me know! I liked most of them, but there are a few duds.

Okay, I came back! I will probably come back a lot. :-p

"A Confederacy of Dunces" is a lovely book by a Louisiana author, John Kennedy Toole, set in New Orleans.

I just updated my list and had Kate Chopin's The Awakening for Louisiana. (Which I recommend if you haven't read it already. I've read it more times than I remember now and it crushes me a little more each time.) I will still check out your recommendation!
