A Walk Down My Road

The weekend before last was peak leaf weekend in the Northeast Kingdom. Unfortunately, because things usually work this way, after weeks of perfect weather, it was rather cloudy and gray, which didn't make for the best conditions for photography. But I went out despite and took a walk down the road I live off of to photograph the leaves ( Read more... )

Thank you! :) I wish it could have been a bright sunny day, as there is a pallor on all of the colors, but maybe next year!

Wetlands I know! It is because you said that there are mountains, but the scenery comes close to what we have hear in the eastern part of our country. Although more beehive-like.

Maryland is also known for its wetlands, so this is familiar to me as well. Our house is on higher ground, surrounded by woods, but it's obvious from digging in the earth that the river has left soil on parts of the property in centuries past.

We live in the valley, but if you go to the end of my road and turn right up the next road and climb the hill, you will have the most incredible view of the Green Mountains, including Jay Peak. So they are never far. :)

Oh pretty! Your area looks very much like my area here in Missouri. Your colors are better than ours this year. I don't know if it was an extended warm fall or the army of web worm caterpillars that stripped a lot of trees of their leaves in late summer (especially the hickories, which always have the brightest yellows), but the colors are pretty muted this year.
