More Drabbles

Dec 24, 2006 15:04

I'm a bit behind on my drabble project, having spent the week writing a thoroughly addictive short story for Bobby. As I watch the football game (go Ravens!), I've been jotting down a few drabble-series. I still have several more that I'd like to write, so I'll try to post them next week ( Read more... )

I love it!!! So beautiful!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! *hugs*
And yes, I admit I might have a small soft spot for Carnistir. ;)

There's a card in the mail for you from me; not nearly as nice as this series though!

As for the Ravens "versus" Steelers, well... How is it possible to fumble at the 1? Wow. That is almost impressive in its ridiculousness. O.o
My brother was playing his Xbox football game, and I said I was tired of watching him because it was like watching the Ravens and the Steelers, haha. (Except the Ravens don't have to use cheat codes to kick the crap out of the Steelers.)

:D :D :D

ROTFLMAO!!!

You totally deserve the "Dude WTF?" icon for that! :^P Okay, I'll admit that it was an ass-whoopin'. But, to be fair, y'all have kicked the crap out of us many, many more times than the other way around.

As for the drabble thingy...you're welcome! I'm glad that you liked it!

As for the card...YAY! I'm a card-whore. (Shhh...don't let it get around! ;) )

Well, you know I'm going for "wtf icon" record! ;) I guess we have kicked your butts, but really, if you manage to do things turn it over on the 1, you deserve to get your ass kicked! (As you can tell, I'm still like 'Wtf?" over that one!)

And don't worry, I'll keep that card-whore thing on the down-low. ;)

To think that we can own light! heartofoshun December 26 2006, 16:25:49 UTC
Wow! Dawn. You got me again.

"I heard my brothers laughing and realized my eyes were squeezed shut. Violently, I shook my head and clenched my lips shut as though the light-and I could sense it, even if I couldn’t see it blood red through my eyelids-would invade me if I let it. Fools! To think that we can own light! It will always be the other way around."

Quite an interesting description and so suspenseful and filled with emotion for such a short piece. The subject was something I had been thinking about a lot this week, what would it feel like. Nice touch that the light of it could be felt even before it is seen--don't know how you meant it exactly, but I read much more into that aspect that simply having shining through one's eyelids. (Don't know if that made any sense.) Anyway, great drabble series.

Hope you had a great Christmas.

Thank you! :) I've always felt that the Silmarils were kind of an assault on the senses, even if that perception isn't quite "normal." It's hard to explain. I'm sure I'll spend a lot of words trying, though. :)

I mean, sitting here now, I can touch my golden retriever: he's warm, bristly, slightly damp (because he just had a bath); he smells like dog soap; I can hear him breathing softly and see him looking all cute-like. I don't know how he tastes and I'm not going to find out. :^P But the Silmarils aren't so obvious in their effect; it's more like synesthesia (how can one hear colors?...yet that is the perception) or phantom limb (how can one feel what is not there?...yet that is the perception): something that seems to cause perception on a deeper, neurological level.

Have I thought about this too much? Ai....

Okay, biopsych geek is going to finish answering comments and then go post the next drabbles, which might include one for a certain someone.... *innocent whistling* ;)

Oh! Dawn! I can't believe I never saw this! Thank you soooo much for telling me, because it would be an absolute tragedy if I had gone on my merry way one second longer without having read "The Seedling".

It is amazing. I mean that sincerely, with no exaggeration whatsoever. I loved Nandolin in BTLoR, but here he is truly, truly a living, breathing creature, not just words on a page (or on the screen, I guess). I love the descriptions of his hands especially: One hand could span my entire face, I thought, but they were gentle as they cradled the seedling. That is so important, I think, for the entire dynamic of their relationship: it really begins to display the amount of trust and sweetness and caring that exists between Telvo and Nandolin, or will exist later, in any case.

“My tree, it will not grow in my land. But here-it might.”Ahh... *dies of love* This is so lovely and perfectly simple, as befits a person like Nandolin, and so layered with meaning and foreshadowing and... oh, what beauty ( ... )

You're very welcome! And thank you for your kind words. :)

It was a busy season when I posted these, and some people missed their stories. One friend found hers through another friend a few weeks ago and expressed embarrassment that she'd missed it, which I did not intend. So I am trying to let people know. :)

One day, I will get around to writing something else in the BtLoRverse. At the moment, I have so much going on, including writer's block, but one day, I will write it for you. ;) I think that it will focus on Telvo and Nandolin. Though BtLoR is about Erestor and Feanor, Telvo and Nandolin are the ones who stole my heart in that one.
