Autumn Pictures

Oct 29, 2006 21:38

Last Monday, Bobby and I took off from work to hike to the Cat Rock in the Catoctin Mountains and take photographs of the autumn foilage. We ended up with seventy-five pictures, many of them redundant, so I'm only going to post a limited selection here. If you are interested in viewing all of the hiking pictures, they are available in the_nautilus here.

Some of my neighbor's pumpkins collapsed and grew mold too...However, once again, very nice pumpkin! Though the rider's heels aren't pointing down. *twitch* ;P

Thank you! :^D

Since he's headless and presumably undead, I'd say that's the least of his worries. ;)

Ah, well, even the undead need balance. It's be awfully embarassing if he dropped his head due to having to catch his balance! ;P

LMFAO!!!

Oh, and Finrod wants me to tell you, "I would but *somebody* hacked my email and cancelled my plane tickets to Denver (and also charged five pounds of Godiva chocolate to my AmEx, but I'm not angry about that, sweetie)."

Beautiful pictures!

Photography is addicting, isn't it? With a digital I take so many more, as I don't really have to do anything more to enjoy them besides upload them. My neighbor is a professional and he's offered once or twice to bring home the $12k camera. No, I don't want to go anywhere near a camera that costs that much.

Two hours for the pumpkin, wow! But looks great.

Photography is addicting! I've always thought that I would like it but never stopped to take pictures. I'm glad that I've started. :)

I think that I would be nervous around a $12k camera too! Good Eru! I was nervous enough around our $1k SeaLife (though that's "hidden" at the inlaws' house until we officially receive it for Christmas).

Thank you! The last pumpkin that I did actually took four hours. And lasted two evenings. Meh.

It took me longer to gut my pumpkin than to carve it. The squirrels were gnawing on it before I even started, so I'm curious to see how it will fare over the next 2 days.

Yeah, cutting off the top and cleaning out the innards always takes me forever too. I remarked today to my husband that having a pumpkin-carving minion to do that for me would be very helpful, but he just laughed, said "Mmmhmm," and went back to watching football.

Thank you! It's time-consuming but not nearly as difficult as it looks, given the right tools. The shame is that they generally only last for two nights. I'm hoping to stretch this one into a third for tomorrow.

The hiking pictures are gorgeous-- I love autumn leaves, they're so beautiful. And the headless horseman pumpkin is cool. The Pumpkin of Tol-in-Gaurhoth was absolutely amazing, but my Finrod muse found it creepy. (Return To Me is an awesome story, btw-- I shall have to read it again next time I am in the mood for a Rehoused Finrod story.)

Hi, Parmalokwen!
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy Hub's and my pictures. :) We're getting started in nature photography, so I hope to improve as the years go one, but these start to show how gorgeous our home state is at this time of year.

It's funny that you mention about the wolf pumpkin...I keep my pumpkins on the balcony and often lock annoying muses out there as well. Yet Finrod was never bothered. Perhaps he didn't notice, trying so hard to break back into the apartment? ;)

Thanks also for reading (and liking!) "Return to Me." This is one of my favorites of my stories.
Best wishes,
Dawn

Oh Dawn, the pictures from Cat rock are so amazing! For some reason I wondered why I had to live here in Maglor's Gap where the lands are so flat *sighs*

And the pumpkin is amazing!

Thank you! :)

I love the mountains myself. :) And we here in Maryland are so lucky. Our state is called "Little America" because we have the seashore, the urban centers (Baltimore, DC), the flat meadows and forests, wetlands, and the mountains. All we're missing is desert and temperate rainforest to give a complete picture of the continental US.

If we drive about fifteen minutes west, we start seeing the mountains. It never fails to be an amazing experience.
