Pic Spam!

Here are about two-weeks worth of pictures that I've been meaning to post. Sadly, more often than not, I fail to download pictures off of our camera because--now that we have wireless Internet--I'm too lazy to set up on the desk and plug into the USB hub. Yikes ( Read more... )

The black stripe is a little bit wider on Amrod's dorsal fin than Amras'. And Amrod has an extra dot on one of his fins. (Don't remember which one!) But I do think that he is a teensy bit larger too. :)

Never been rollerskating? The horror! It is great fun! It's better than iceskating (imho) because the floor doesn't get torn up the way that ice does, so it is always lovely and smooth, like flying. *happy sigh*

Seeing your thumb up close and personal, I don't know that I'd describe it as double-jointed. I think it's a genetic quirk called hitchhiker's thumb. Some people's thumb joints bend backwards, and I seem to recall that my tenth-grade biology teacher identified that as hitchhiker's thumb. I have it, as well as a widow's peak and the ability to roll my tongue, all of which are genetic.

Of course, the main thing I remember from tenth-grade biology was that I turned out to be the most aggressive girl in the class. In a real live experiment designed to turn fifteen- and sixteen-year-olds into predators, no less.

I've always suspected that it's genetic. I am one of the only people I know whose thumb bends both ways (and in fact bends further backwards than forwards), yet my father and paternal grandmother both have/had the same trait.

We never discussed this particular trait in biology, but I remember the widow's peak, tongue roll, and mid-digital hair quite well!

I knew a girl in college who could fold her tongue into a cloverleaf shape. Now that was a genetic talent.

The thumb thing is not uncommon once you start looking; not me though. But I used to work with a guy who could bend his thumb all the way back to his wrist, something with the joint at the base of the thumb and not the top joint, although I think that was pretty loose too. It was pretty freaky, but it was also a good bar stunt. He had the entire bar begging him to stop as it was so gross.

Seems like there was something else that grossed us all out, but I don't recall what, maybe the rest of the fingers on his hand could also be bent back?

I will find fishy pictures! Now see, if I was allowed to have my Christmas present....

>:^D

And ouchie for smashed fingers. My Uncle Wodie had a crooked middle finger that had gotten hung up in a printer's press. :(

I'd rather my "talent" be natural....

Oh, cute fishies! :-D

I also think the pictures of you skating look quite artsy. :)

Caranthir didn't make it into any of the pictures; he is a blue cichlid with black stripes, and he (along with Finwe, who is the same species) loves to terrorize everyone in the tank. *pretends to be surprised* Oh, and I think Caranthir might be female.... :^P

I liked how the skating pictures turned out too! Quite a nice accident from a cheap camera. :)

OMG, you have a whole Feanorian fish family? That's just too cool. And it would be rather funny if Caranthir turned out to be female I think (of course he isn't amused, hehe). :)

Yep. :) Maedhros through Amrod, Feanor, Fingon, and Finwe in the aggressive tank. We had a Nerdanel, but she died. In the community tank, we have a Finarfin, Earwen, Finrod (also had Orodreth through Galadriel, but they all died), and Earendil. Caranthir, incidentally, is the prettiest in the aggressive tank, imho. He's also the nastiest. Sound familiar? :^P
