Why Can't Computers Be More Like Star Trek?

You know, they’re everywhere and can just automatically record what you’re saying, so that when you have a thought you want to record, you don’t have to try to record it later?  If that was the case, I’d have updated ages ago.

I’m perfectly aware that I’ve been the biggest cyber-slacker on the planet when it comes to my LJ recently.  Truth be ( Read more... )

Glad to see it's all going well! Just think, only 3 months and you'll be here! Well, briefly anyway. : P

I really liked Brisbane. I'm trying to picture the display as you describe it - I only wish I could have seen it myself! Mostly because that would mean being back in Australia. ;)

Technically Australia Day is more like Columbus Day given that it's celebrating the discovery of the country, and not the nation's independence/becoming a country. The date we became our own governing country was actually January 1, 1901. I think the only time we've actually celebrated this was in 2001 because it was the Centennary of Federation, though, which is why it may appear that Australia Day is more like Independence Day, particularly also because the celebrations are similar. I just don't want you leading all Americans reading this astray from our history ;)

Also, my husband is doing his PhD at the moment too and he still manages to update his journal more frequently than you ;) I can't believe it's been more than two months since your birthday (and therefore since you posted)!

Well, there is LJ voice posting, but I know not of the logistics and it probably is one of those US only things. So for now, you're going to have to poke at all the computer geeks and the LJ programmers to become more Star Trek-ish.

The fireworks sounded awesome and the whole RiverFire thing too! Glad to see you're doing well.
