19" is the diagonal measurement of the physical glass tube inside the TV. Totally irrelevant to the actual viewable area. I do appreciate that flat screens measure the viewable area.

Yeah, okay. I was measuring it with a tape measure, and couldn't figure out where the got the 19 inches. I even tried diaganol, which wasn't fitting.

Know any poor students or geeks who need a tv?

I'm sure there's a freecycle group in the area. Fast n easy way to find someone in need that will appreciate just about any junk you have to give.

I was able to give the tv away to a group that used it in their haunted house, so went to a good home.
