She grunts, not an altogether attractive sound, then pulls a pillow over her head. She's not pretending to be asleep ... at least, she wasn't until he kicked the bed. Now she is, but only because he managed to wake her up.

"Big deal."

He leaves the tray on the side table and crawls over her.

"At least pretend to like the breakfast, Lilah."

Another cat jumps on the bed.

"Breakfast?" The idea of food being delivered to her is enough to make her come out from under the pillow.

"Why the fuck are the cats on the bed?" She kicks one near her foot and it jumps to the ground.

He goes to rescue the cat.

"Lilah. This is the nice cat. She was saying Happy Birthday. And you kicked her."

Poor cat.
