All this carnage, all these dead... It's almost as though there was some sort of war going on.
In times of war, I wonder if tragedies like this might do some amount of good. It's terribly easy, thousands of miles from the front lines, to forget about the horrific cost in lives that war exacts. The difference between London and Baghdad is that England willingly entered this war. Well, that and the ratio of civilians killed. Nations that aggressively follow an agenda of war must be prepared to face the consequences of that agenda. Hopefully, in light of today's tragedy, England will pause before again deciding to foolishly follow America's charge into bloodshed. It isn't likely, but one must have hope.
The sad fact of the matter is, this is only news because it happened to Western civilians. If we really thought for a moment that the lives of the Iraqi people were as valuable as our own, Dave would have to write a post just like the one above every single morning, and then another one before going to bed each night.
While I agree that nations that willingly enter war should be prepared to face the consequences, it certainly doesn't excuse the purposeful slaughter of civilians. Not on either end
