Yes, I agree with this 100%.
Since we're not going to know any of the companions anymore, I think the newst one should be working incognito...or under the control of a malicious power...like the Master (who should come back anyway)...and the new companion will gradually win his or her way into the Doctor's heart...AND THEN STAB him. Or something. Lure him into a trap, tie him up, steal his regenerations, something along those lines.

And at this point, when he is in dire need, John Barrowman (aka Torchwood Jack) will ride in on a steed or something and SAVE THE DAY, after which it will be revealed to John Barrowman that Ianto has been the Doctor ALL ALONG.

...Much raping will ensue.
