How I Got Heckled At The Marvel Panel

Jul 27, 2007 10:09

So, here I am at the San Diego ComicCon. As a socially responsible comic reader, yesterday, I thought I would ask an intelligent question about Marvel perhaps going 'green' like Rolling Stone recently did. Comic books, after all, are made from trees ... Anyway, this is Newsarama's write up of my little question.

An environmentally-minded comic book enthusiast asked [Marvel President Dan] Buckley what the company is doing to "reduce its carbon footprint," which wasn't very popular with the sometimes surly audience (one person yelled "shut up" loudly). Buckley said it's been asked before, but he doesn't have a great answer at this point, but he'll bring it up again in-house.

Now, certainly I think I posed a legitimate question ... and sure, my first thought to being heckled was "come up here and say that to my face - m*ther fu*ker and I'll hit you with my cane" - but instead I was calm - and waited from legitimate answers from Dan Buckely and David Gabriel - and both of them very nice about the whole matter ... but seriously, if you heckle me at a panel - next time - I will find you!
