Anyone still there? Since Dave's been on tour and is about to head into the studio to write and record us a new album, I figured it was time to dust this place off.

Since we last spoke, David has been on tour debuting new songs, coming up with a more "fun" concept for the next album, rappelling down buildings for charity, and covering The BossRead more... )

I miss seeing Cook live! At least there are always videos from his shows on YouTube though - thank God for his fans, lol.

The Season 13 premiere was really good. Harry Connick Jr. is a great addition to the panel - he plays the role of the "tough" judge, but he balances his honesty with humour and knowledgeable critiques. I think the contestants to watch out for so far are Sam Woolf, Jillian Jensen, and Malcolm Allen.

Like I posted on Facebook, he always, ALWAYS knows when to come back to Denver to make me fall in love with him all over again. xD

I'm just so worried because as much as I've wanted Harry to join the judges' panel (after Simon left) and I think JLo will be much better with Keith and Harry on either side than Randy and Steven...it always, always falls apart during the live shows. And after the way JLo treated Haley during season 10, idk if my poor heart can take it. :/

But I AM glad to hear that Harry is doing well so far. They should've brought him onto the panel way sooner; he's always been my favorite mentor throughout the seasons.

I realized yesterday it's been 6 YEARS since season 7. 6 YEARS. When did that happen?

I decided to give Idol another chance and watched last night's premiere. Why we never got Harry Connick Jr as a judge before now I will never know. He & Keith Urban are absolute magic. I can't name anyone offhand that I really liked except the one guy that HCJ held in his arms while he sang. I'm glad the not so great ones & the (excuse the expression) crazies, are being kept to a minimum this year so far. And that we're getting honest straightforward knowledgeable critiques. Not so much of the 'I love your outfit' stuff so far

Six. Years. OMG. David even mentioned during his Denver tour stop that he was 25 when he won Idol (being 31 now) and Monty was like "...Wait, what?" It's kinda scary.

Which also means that Archie is about 23 now and just...no. I can't handle that.

Harry has always been my favorite mentor throughout the seasons, and it always bothered me that they spent so much time messing around with the judges' panel and bringing in A-listers with albums to promote and the like as opposed to this guy. Just... *headshake*

It IS scary. It's just gone by so fast. Then I was watching tonight/last night (since where I am it's past midnight) and thinking about AI & the friends it's brought me and so on. It's just very cool.

*fingers in ears* LALALALALALALA.....NOT HEARING ANYTHING ABOUT ARCHIE'S AGE (God, & he was a teeny little bb then!)

Seriously! TBH I was ok with Kara & Ellen & Steven as mentors also. But there was just something missing there. And I won't even comment about Nicki & Mariah since I think I skipped that season entirely. Just think, we could've had Harry & Keith INSTEAD of those two. *sigh* (seriously, two episodes & I 'ship it already. And I'm changing Harry's name to Tony for the rest of the season. Just because of that one guy who got his name wrong. *shudder* he worried me)

I saw David in concert back in October and he still puts on a fun show and the intimate venue made for some great audience interaction.

Our venue was pretty small too, about 200 people. Which made it super fun and awesome. Also there were weed jokes and Broncos taunting all around.

I got to see him TWICE on tour. Once was back in October at Irving Plaza (I actually took the picture that my icon is from) and then in December at Atlantic City.

Obligatory showing off of pictures: Irving Plaza
Atlantic City

I am still waiting to get my meet and greet (they sold out before I knew I was going to Irving Plaza and there wasn't a meet and greet for Atlantic City other than through the radio station that sponsored the concert since it was free) and picture with him. :-( He didn't come out after the show for Atlantic City because they had to leave at 4 Am for the Chicago concert that next night. But I did get to stand RIGHT up against the stage/barrier and stand literally right in front of him. I stared up into his eyes but we didn't make eye contact as far as I remember. >.>

It took me a while to get VIP tickets, so I feel you there. I tried waiting for him outside after the first show I ever saw him at, but because some crazy loon from Tulsa had snuck onto the bus the day before, they shuffled the guys onto the bus and left super fast. :(

But your pictures are killer awesome!

Whaaaaat? That's crazy. Was that back when he first won Idol? I didn't think they still had a bus (they have a van that they drive now I guess?). One of the girls standing near me at the Atlantic City concert was saying that there aren't nearly as many loons in the fandom as there were when he first won and that's why they've been so laid back with doing meet and greets and such. But ugh, there's always at least one fan who ruins things for the rest of the fans. :|

Thank you! I got really lucky with most of those, and part of why some of them look so good is 'cause I edited them and made them that way but even so...I'm really proud of most of them.

It was about a year after he won, I think? So still some crazies leftover from his Idol win I suppose. Ugh.

I was at the Denver show too!!! It was freaking AMAZING; probably the best show I've seen of his so far! His banter was awesome and I especially enjoyed the joke session, haha!
