Return of the BOW Award

Aug 16, 2008 13:21

Today I bring back the BOW (Buffoon Of the Week) Award, after a hiatus of several weeks. I feel a bit refreshed and I’m ready to go after Buffoons wherever they may hide. Fortunately, Buffoons are no better at hiding than they are at doing much of anything, so this shouldn’t be too hard. And, as it happens, there was enough Buffoonery on display ( Read more... )

hooray, the BOW is back, lol! kmarkhoover August 16 2008, 19:23:52 UTC
It was an incredible statement, one that reeked of stupefying hypocrisy along with a complete disregard of reality.

Makes you think. When Senator Obama speaks to other world leaders he's being uppity. (Well, we all know what's behind that idea from the GOP.) But when McCain does it, even to the point of sending emissaries to Georgia to try and set policy...well, he's just being responsible and presidential.

Typical GOP action: "Do as we say, not as we do. Suckers."

I, for one, am glad they're being called on this. Long overdue, imo.

I agree that Edwards would have won had I done the award last week. But this is old news now. And besides, a male politician getting caught with his dick in the wrong place? Seems a little cliched to me. McCain's buffoonery is so much more creative....

Thanks for the comment, my friend. Great seeing you in Denver.

McCain is trying to set foreign policy. We're only supposed to have one president at a time. That's what the Constitution says, although we know how the GOP views that "goddamn piece of paper" and the restrictions it places on governmental officials.

Setting foreign policy (while having a paid Georgian lobbyist on your staff) to undermine the current work and position of our State Department is much more "buffoonery" -- and incredibly dangerous -- than a politician tapping a piece of ass and then lying about it.

What? Hypocrisy in politics? I never!!!

I knew about the lackeys, but the way you wrote it - wonder if that comes with being a fantasy author or just my take on it - caused an image to pop into my head of The Wicked Witch of the West sending her his two favorite flying monkeys, Joe and Bubba G, over to Georgia to straighten out the munchkins.

As for the one commentor's point about Edwards. 1) Edwards isn't running for President. 2) Does the GOP really want to stack up the lists of politicians in each party and compare them to see who is more 'moral'? Edwards was toast, politically, the moment that was revealed, but the GOP has plenty in the same boat, more actually, and for even worse reasons. Most of them are on Fox.

Glad to have ya back. :-)

Thanks, glad to be back. The comment on Edwards came from a staunch liberal Democrat (who's also a good friend and a terrific fantasy writer). He just thinks Edwards was an idiot and I have to agree. I just didn't think it was this week's news.

Yes, I know that a lot of Democrats are upset not just with John, but even Elizabeth for continuing the campaign knowing what they knew.

Still, it worked out that he wasn't the nominee and it doesn't make any difference now despite the rantings of the less sane on the other side (e.g. Hannity who spent weeks on Edwards haircut costs and I have no idea how he didn't explode from joy over this).

The point is that the GOP has more than enough skeletons that they might want to move on from this.

Fantasy author? Who is it? :) Always up for some more reading material.

He writes as S.L. Farrell. He's author of the Cloudmage series. His newest novel is A MAGIC OF TWILIGHT. Check out his stuff.

As for Corsi:

Group tied to al-Qaida backs McCain for prez
By Jerome R. Corsi

"Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has enjoyed strong support from a lobbyist group that backs the Kosovo Liberation Army despite allegations the KLA is a Muslim terrorist group with ties to criminal drug networks and al-Qaida."

Guess we'll get the "John McCain: Unfit for Command II" book as soon as he gets off Hannity's radio and TV show... Although, you have to give the guy points for his footnotes pointing to himself. That's impressive...

And yet this race is still close, which scares me.

Might want to follow this web site to see the current poll data:

Might alleviate some of your concerns. It's not really as close as the media would like us to believe. Of course, the country is still fairly divided, but the GOP brand is in such bad shape that this election, unless something like breaking an oar (to use an Olympic metaphor), is over.
