Thanks, Alis. He was pretty cute, particularly when the hummingbird buzzed him and he followed it by doing that 360 degree head swivel that owls can do.

Thanks, Sherwood. I was thinking that I needed a more powerful lens. But I'm a photographer, and I ALWAYS think that I need a new lens....

Me, too, Mark. I've always thought that if I had a totem, it would be a Great Horned Owl. But I love them all.

Oh wow. I just adore owls. This one's a beauty. Alas, our foxes have moved on, but we've gained some sort of yellow bird in the hanging baskets on the front porch. I'll have to figure out what it is because I'm sure you'll ask me one of these days.

Hmmm. American Goldfinch? Baltimore Oriole? (Though they're more orange than yellow) Yellow Warbler? Hooded Warbler? Google any of them and you'll get pics. That should help.

Thanks! That will help me narrow down the field. Hubby said he thought it was a canary, but to him almost every yellow bird is a canary unless it's got a six foot wing span (grin).

Funny that you mention it, but Owl is one of my animal totems. I love listening to them at night.

American Goldfinch: Also known as the Wild Canary. Sorry, Sweetie, but Hubby's right.
