You're right--I think that's why the dietary aspect of all of this has always seemed the most tangible and important one. It wasn't until after I'd learned about paleolithic nutrition that I understood Ishmael, and it had a big part in my understanding of Guns, Germs & Steel. I think that's why studying sustainability appeals to me--that's the goal, and to me, pre-agricultural man is the right place to look for the answers.
