a friend of mine moved there to England to be with her wife. i know she's glad she got out when she did.

Congratulations to your friend! Considering how the in-coming regime wants to take away all protections for LGBTQ+, she certainly made the right move.

I have three direct nieces, one is gay and one is trans. I fear for them in the upcoming years.

We want to leave the country, but we need to arrange a medical retirement for my wife. And I have a feeling the rest of the world is going to become increasingly hostile to fleeing Americans as time goes on.

It's funny/sad how the ill-informed live by the national anthem's "the land of the free...". Yes, we're free to be shot. We're free to have religion constantly shoved in our face by strangers. We're free to pay ruinous amounts of money for health care, and then to lose it all and become destitute. And, of course, we're free to be shot by a stranger and then we have to rely on our personal health care to try to fix us up at our expense rather than the stranger's!

It's an utterly fucked-up system and the MAGA faithful just don't comprehend it.
