In 2010 I took a trip that went to Machu Picchu followed by a trip to Easter Island. Fascinating to see the remnants of these two civilizations that built incredible stuff and then disappeared. One of the Easter Island demise theories is that the civilization built up rapidly and they over fished and there wasn't enough land to farm so the people died out. There are several theories about the Inca's demise but the prevalent one is that the Spaniards brought too many diseases - all pox and flu among others - and most of the people died,
