Wow, journal entry time at last. It's Xmas morning, and my plans for the day include sleeping a lot, perhaps watching some old Coliseum Videos, and maybe working out for the first time in a very long, very lazy time. Have you ever seen the episode of UWF where Eddie Gilbert and Dick Murdoch break Steve Williams arm? That was the very first episode of UWF I ever saw and it was incredible for many reasons...

Someday I hope to get the Union back on track so I can strive to book that well.

From seeing their venues they run in, I would think FIP was "minor league", but then I remember that they're a DVD product. :)

Those last 2 paragraphs posted are some of the best shit I've read about wrestling in 2004, I really need to print this out and give it to a few clueless people I know who watch "wrestling" (read: sports entertainment, which isn't that entertaining). And as much as like most of FIP's product, they are slacking in a lot of areas but hopefully (for our sakes here in FL) they improve on those things.

Wrestling is on a down cylcle for many reasons. With you being involved in wrestling I'm sure you know most to all of them. But I'm going stress a major one right here. The absence of Kayfabe. Yes, everyone knows wrestling is worked. Rather you like it or not, everything in wrestling either "major" or "minor" league revolves around WWE. WWE took Kayfabe and shot it in the back of the head with shows like "Tough Enough" that basically taught the whole country (to an extent) how to wrestle. You've got guys like Punk, Homicide, Hero and many more on the indie circuit killing themselves, trying to make wrestling look as real as possible without causing severe injuries to who they are working with and themselves. The average Indie fan sees this live, then goes home and turns on the TV to watch the WWE basically kill wrestling. To a smart Indie fan, this may not matter. To your average wrestling fan, this makes a big difference. Why go watch wrestling down at the VFW when WWE can reveal all the secrets and teach you how to do it from home? ( ... )
