Once Alexander was finished with clubs, he went ahead, got the rest of his stuff from his old room, and started lugging it down to his new room. Likewise, William had gone back to his old room after French club and packed up his meagre few belongings and lugged them up to his new room.

"Alexander?" he checked, upon seeing the unfamiliar girl. "That is you, isn't it?" he hoped so, anyway, because the alternative meant the school had mixed up the paperwork and placed him with- heaven forbid- an actual girl.

"Yes," Alexander said with a faint smile, "it is, though I know I look even less like myself than even one would expect. Mr. Murdoch, I presume? So much for this move being able to satisfy my mother's insistence that I no longer be rooming with a female. Although, technically, we could point out that it is still not the opposite sex."

"Indeed," William smiled. "Although hopefully this issue will resolve itself quickly enough that the subject needn't come up. I've nothing in particular against the female form, I'd just rather have my own back."

"I'm rather fond of it myself," Alexander admitted, "but certainly not on myself. I keep being assured that it shall pass, but, if it is not in a few more days, I shall start to feel greatly concerned."
