I've broken my nice Steampunk keyboard. :( Yesterday I finally got sick of the brown tape I'd wrapped around the cable and decided to replace it by threading it through a bootlace with the middle bit removed. I've had good luck finding old keyboards in "thrift shops" or charity shops run by outfits such as The Salvation Army, for $2 - $3 a piece. Presuming you have similar stores in the U.K., you might want to give that a try.

As this left me without a keyboard at all I'd have had to buy something anyway. The chances of finding exactly the right model for the easy option I was hoping for were minute. I'll be on the lookout for something nicer to type on in the near future though. Either that or a thin sheet of something to sit in the base and firm things up a little.

I'd like one of these, but I can't help feel that given the amount of fake plastic wood I've used it'll look out of place.
