That does indeed look very pretty. I'd not heard of the games at all, then, I rarely pay attention to commercial games these days, can't afford them, machines too low spec to play them, why bother.
On the Elite fron though, have you seen/tried Oolite? First discovered it in a Ubuntu repository, but the most recent release works very well on this little netbook. Random chance, written by aegidian, who's married to lizw, who led the legal team that got the asylum ruling yesterday, which was rather nice.
Very Open Source, very very silly, expands on the silliness of Elite in an impressive manner, and I keep seeing in game adverts for Lave Fried Trumble...
Not had a chance to play Oolite yet, but I have got a copy somewhere. I think your missus' netbook will probably run at least one of the games- X2's not as pretty, but got me hooked. Actually if you want I could post you my copy...
