Ou exams

It was my T850 exam in the run up to Whitby. This was not something that I was well prepared for. I had not managed to engage at all with the course as we were going along, and this meant that I'd done much less than I should have and only really started revising for the exam the morning before. Where I currently am educationally, a string of excuses for not being able to solve Schroedingers equation might come in handy...

Cheers, I'm going towards a postgrad diploma in technology management. I started it mostly due to boredom whilst working at Malvern Instruments.

Well since it's technology management, excuses seem to be the order of the day. You'll have to check that your minions are working and giving you the right excuses, rather than skiving and then spinning you a line;-)

I saw a post advertised for an NHS information engineer the other day, it was interesting that despite the buzzwords they used "Track Record of delivering reliable products on time and to budget" wasn't in the spec... Infact neither reliability, budget or deadlines were mentioned. A previous history on NHS projects was an advantage though.

Most of the other courses have been fine, and the specific one on technology management was really good.

It is just this particular one that is a bit on the bobbins side.

The management on government IT projects is odd, as they have a specific PM Methodology that they have to adhere to and so knowing about that could (perhaps) be useful. I'm not sure I trust in the philosophy of methodologies being the way forward for ensuring success in projects. I get the feeling that it gives a sense of security, and also something to blame when it all goes wrong.
