Then why do I feel like I have so many good friends?

An anomaly.

Talk to people outside your friendship circle (coworkers, family) and find out who they hang with and who their close friends are.

The thing that I related to was the people confiding only in their spouses. For me, outside of Katie I probably confide (significantly) in only one other person.

Yes, I think there's a certain truth to that. I don't confide in many people, but I would number that around 4-5 people, depending on the situation and context of what I confide.

Do bartenders count?

No bartenders :)

I took it to mean significantly... as in the number of people I would tell pretty much anything that's on my mind, without editorializing.

I can see why. I have alot of friends. More than I did when I was in high school which was like maybe 3 people. But I have noticed that I absolutely detest talking on the phone sometimes. I would rather email or text. I think that's horrible. But I do think your wife should call me more often. We gots to hang out!

My wife *LOVES* social situations, she loves talking with people, she loves writing to people... she hates the phone.

I hate it too, but I'll use it... at least to call people to hang out.

Keep on her, she's got time around the weekends, doesn't like to be out too late, and is prolly around for lunch.

Do you IM ever?
