This morning, I got an e-mail from a parent asking if her son can have a one-day extension on his project.  He has been the lighting manager for our theater's production of "West-Side Story" performed all last week.  He has been spending so much time working in the theater, he hasn't gotten all of his homework done.

I totally have warm fuzzy feelings for your student right now. Your job sounds like it can be just as rewarding as it is infuriating (if not more so).

LOL, I know what you mean! I work so hard at school that my teacher (who is a terrifying hard ass to the vast majority of the students) will sometimes let me go early... he knows that if he lets me go half an hour early, I can pick my youngest son up on time and he doesn't have to go to day care. It is not something he would do for 99% of the other students but I work extra hard, come in and help even when school is not in session and help him organize things when he is busy... and guess what? That type of give and take IS real life.
