Well, better late than never.

Personaly, if someone does something to me I consider wrong, if I do the same back it is one of two things.

1, I'm being hypocritical, because I consdier what he's doing is wrong, yet I've done it myself

or

2. I'm signaling that I don't think its wrong.

Neither of these seem to be a good thing to do in my opinion. Of course this is a simplification and the real world doesn't always fit this simplification.

It's just it seems to me, that it's best to try and be the better person. Doing something back will often lead to escalation if you don't react back perfectly equal, or if the other person thinks you deserved what you got to begin with.
