Author's Note: You may have to rewatch episode 12 more closely to understand the references.
A warning: This thing is utter crap. It's most definitely the worst piece I've written in years. I guess I was just fucking around and experimenting, since I've got 90 Simoun fics left to write up. Just move on and read something else. I think the rest of my Simoun fics are alright.
The Simoun jewel glows green when two Sibylla kiss it during the ritual, but in reality it is colorless. It reflects the ultimate desire of the two Sibylla, which more often than not is freedom. Escape from reality. Eternity. In other words, the Emerald Ri-Maajon.
The reason the jewel never lights up green once Sibylla have entered the Spring is that adulthood brings burdens and other aspirations to the Sibylla. They yearn for respect and love instead of wild tribulations. At this time, if two Sibylla who are as intimately linked as they ever were - this happens so very rarely, as adulthood builds terrible rifts as well - touch the Simoun jewel, instead of green they might see red, love; purple, respect; black, death.
It is unfortunate that this phenomenon has only been experienced once, and that it was not recorded properly. Its expression is like an incestuous secret. If you go to two sisters in the village of Reimeira, named Kaimu and Alti, they may be able to inform you better. I wish you the best of luck in chronicling the history of the Simoun and discovering the secrets of life, Mr. Kanzaki.
But here, come up to this particular Simoun. Its helical motor is wrecked, yes, and quite far beyond repair, but the jewel still functions smoothly. Touch the jewel with your wife, Mr. Kanzaki.
...Is it glowing? No?
That is sad. Perhaps you now realize just how elusive true emotion is.
Did I offend you? I'm sorry, Mr. Kanzaki, I'm sure you and your wife are a lovely couple. Ignore me, I'm just a doddering old woman who doesn't know what she is talking about.
My name? My name is Neviril.
Who is that? That's Aaeru. My... lover.
...Don't act so shocked, Mr. Kanzaki. Life is emotion. Time is emotion. Eternity is emotion.
This jewel will still be here after many years. It will be here forever. Make a pilgrimage back here sometime, Mr. Kanzaki. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised.
