Don't Blame Me, I'm Not From Massachusetts

In 1973-4, there was a popular bumper sticker in my home state that said "Don't Blame Me, I'm From Massachusetts," referring to Richard Nixon's sweep of 49 states in the 1972 presidential elections.

I am from Massachusetts, of course, but I am glad for the moment that I don't live there, because I'd be kicking myself and wondering "Could I have ( Read more... )

Could we have done more? Probably not, unfortunately. Her campaign was very, very badly run. I mean it -- terribly. His was much better run, even including the followers who were terrible. *sigh*

Dems that are in office need to step up to the plate.

I agree about the filibuster: let them WORK for a change. They'll burn out before they accomplish their goal.

My question is, WILL that "show up the Republicans" to the public? Because those that support them don't care and showing them won't change their minds. And those that don't support them already know it. . . though yesterday it seems only 34% of registered Democratic voters in MA actually bothered to vote!!!! I'm sooooo pissed at their lazy butts. People say "well, everyone just took it for granted that another Dem would OF COURSE get voted in to Ted's seat, so they didn't bother." Excuuuuse me? If you don't vote, who else does? Not to mention, the news was full of "Brown is in the lead in polls" for weeks before the vote.

The stupid. It burns.

I agree that True Believers on both ends of the political spectrum will be unchanged in their views, but if it's seen that the reactionary forces are willing to bring everything to a halt in order to prevent a vote from happening ("If I can't be pitcher, I'm going to take my ball and go home!"), perhaps that will show their true colors.

Of course, as I said, the Democrats will need to be aggressive in presenting it that way. If the Republicans can say "we're sticking to our principles!" enough to drown out the Democrats' mesage, then it will bog down the People's Business for nothing.

And don't get me started on lazy MA voters. Grrrr...
