Day Thirteen - Hungover?

Summary: Aisling wakes up feeling rather hungover - interesting, since she had nothing to drink the night before. She's quick to realize she's in the wrong body, and the girl next to her is not the man-ape gone-wrong thing that she fell

Surprise woke to someone talking to her, and she stirred a little before she made herself wake up. Rubbing sleep from her eyes, she glanced over and her eyes widened as she saw a man looking down at her and she realized she wasn't entirely clothed. Gathering up the blankets around herself, she cowered in the bed, terrified.

"What do you want?" she tried, and her voice shook a little except that a little turned into a lot, and the whole bed shook as she trembled with fear, a Talent slipping out and only scaring her more.

"Shh," she said, frowning as the bed shook. "Lass, shh. It'll be well, but I need t'explain some thin's to you," she said. Barney's voice and her accent wasn't a great match, and it grated on her ears.

Though her reaction was ... odd. Ais was pretty sure she looked like Barney, so why was Surprise treating her as a stranger, and being afraid? Was that what had happened to her? "Lass, d'you know who y'are?"

Surprise nodded emphatically. Of course she knew who she .... wait. She began to shake her head, and a few tears squeezed out.

"N-no," she managed, and she swallowed a little, trying not to be afraid because the person in front of her was being nice, "What's going on?"

It was hard not to panic. Really hard. She didn't know where she was or who she was or ... anything. Fat tears rolled down her cheeks.

"All right." Ais lifted a hand to wipe away Surprise's tears. "Your name is Surprise, an' you've got a bit of a magical skill. Think you refer to it as Talents. Yours is that you can do annathin' once, but only once, so y'try not to waste them if y'can help it."

Ais lifted a hand to stroke the girl's hair softly, drawing her close to hug her if Surprise was amenable to it. "You're in a place called DauphinMare, an' we're fightin' a bit of a war. Last night, we were given a bit of a warnin' tha' somethin' bad mi' be happenin' t'us t'day ... and it looks like the bad bit t'happen t'you ... involves a bit o'amnesia."
