Kat had spent some part of the day in distress. After Zoe had carted off Jayne, she'd had to wonder how close she'd come to ... well, to having very bad things happen to her.

But then the letter said he was one of them now - and she'd even gotten a mention. She had to wonder what sort of story Zoe had told that put her in any sort of good light in that situation.

Deciding it didn't matter, Kat had spent some time reflecting. She really sucked at this war stuff.

Inclined to get her mind off of that, she wandered to the lounge in the hopes of finding Tristan or Cedric - though she remembered as she peeked in that Tris was preparing to run with the moon, and Cedric was spending all his time with Silvara.

But there was Jayne, on The Couch. "Hey," she said quietly as she eased in. She settled into a chair, since he was stretched out on The Couch.

"Hey," he grunted noncommittally, and looked over to her.

Well damn. Hadn't he been about to go somewhere interesting with that one before he got caught out? He thought he had. Well, no mind.

"Nice place you guys got here," he offered.

Though really, he guessed it was his place too. But he still felt all kinds of out of place here. Them and their fancy lounge and sunny skies. He wondered if he'd get used to it, and reckoned he would, just maybe not off the hop.

"Thanks," Kat said reflexively. "Not that we had anything to do with it," she murmured. "I didn't, anyway." Maybe some of the others had; what did she know?

"So ... how come you changed sides?" she asked. What she really wanted to ask was why he hadn't told her he was on their side this morning, but that would have made him a pretty bad agent if he had.

"Weren't as if I had a lot of choice," he replied, "Course, 's nicer over here anyhow." He grinned lecherously before continuing. "Ladyfolk're better lookin' too."

Well, he didn't know that, but he'd heard that flattery could get you everywhere.
