River had escaped the MedLab. She was hiding now. Hiding from the world, hiding from herself... just... hiding. The temporary happiness - completeness - that she had felt from dancing last night had faded with morning, and she was left with the empty feeling... the incompleteness that came with the pain of whatever they'd done to her at the Academy ( ... )

"Hello," Kyle replied to the girl, brow furrowing briefly as he worked out the bit about earthquakes. "There aren't any faultlines here," he said to her before he craned his neck to gaze up at her, squinting a little against the sun shining in behind her.

He wondered if she'd come to join him, and he thought he wouldn't mind the company.

"No... " she said softly, frowning, fingers still reaching out to almost touch the butterflies briefly before she made the decision - quite abruptly - to settle down on the ground next to him cross-legged. "I am mistaken. Hurricanes," she nodded, as if that answered everything. Sometimes, the theories got mixed up. "They are pretty," she said with a small smile, nodding up to the butterflies dancing overhead. "Multicoloured swirls that spin wildly - weeks trapped where they cannot fly... " she trailed off softly. "Some are still trapped there," she murmured softly.

"From the water," Kyle agreed about the hurricanes. He hadn't seen one yet, but he was aware there had been a thunderstorm, early on. It was similar, he supposed. "I'm Kyle," he said, extending a hand toward her in case she was inclined to shake it.

She was interesting, whoever she was. Talked in a very interesting way, and it took a bit of deciphering on his part ... but he thought he had it figured out.
