Third Truth

I had not anticipated being named as a suspect myself. An interesting turn of events. Disconcerting, but interesting nonetheless.

Seven of the prior suspects have been murdered. There are allegedly seven monsters. Perhaps they were killed in an effort to find the monsters. Perhaps it's simply coincidental. Regardless, this is not a detail I can ( Read more... )

... this is almost ironic.

It may be an attempt to threaten Miss Erika and me into stopping the investigation, like Miss Beatrice's letters from previous games. Only this time, instead of being urged to solve a riddle, we are being urged to kill other residents. If we don't, then presumably the murders will not stop.

...It's too similar. This situation and Rokkenjima...I don't like it.

There's gotta be some kind of running theme, but I don't know what...

There have only been two massacres, so it is difficult to decisively say there is a theme. Two similar events can be explained away as a coincidence, but if a third event occurs, the likelihood of coincidence becomes smaller.

...At this point, the only thing that relates the two is the list of suspects. Namely, the ones who have been included twice. However, I don't know what that means. If I live to see the third list of suspects, assuming there will be one, perhaps I will be able to discern something.

You're saying that the murders are just... random?

[[He doesn't buy that, unfortunately.]]

...Whoever's doing this is sick.

I am not ruling it out as a possibility. I don't have enough information yet to provide a proper theory, and until I do I cannot afford to make assumptions. There may be a theme - in fact, this is probably the case, but two incidents of a similar nature cannot be considered as having a theme. If there is a theme, then the third event will follow it, and at that point discovering what the theme is will be easier.

I must agree with your assessment of the culprit's character. There is no reason to kill innocent residents.

No, Dlanor can't be a target! Not fair, not fair, Uryu!

Fair or not, that is the reality of the situation.

Please do not concern yourself with the possibility of my death. You should focus on self-preservation.

But... Dlanor is Sakutaro's friend, Uryu...

Then, as a favor to a friend, I will do my best to stay alive. Unfortunately, that is all I can promise you.

I ask that you do the same. I don't like having my friends die, either.

Maybe you'd better stay in the house.

Yes, I believe that would be the best course of action.

Right.

Do you have any idea why you've been named as a suspect?

I was not familiar with any of the victims, and I am not familiar with any of the other suspects. Additionally, I have only been here for two weeks, and I did not participate in the riots. I believe I was chosen either in an attempt to postpone my investigation by threatening my life, or randomly. No other theories make sense.
