Off to the 'Peg!

Two things:

I'm off to Winnipeg for a couple of days.  Ah, the places you'll go for your significant other.  Apparently it is less deadly in the summer, unless you find flash floods and mosquitos and violent crime deadly.  Luckily I'm not one of those people...

I've written two articles for the Torontoist!  One got no comments, and the other got ( Read more... )

I read them, and I like them! But particularly through Blogs, I wouldn't put that much weight on the number of replies/types of replies you get (and yeah, I know how stupid that must sound). Seems to me that most readers would tend to be lurkers, and I think that pieces like yours provoke thought about things that people wouldn't normally muse over, but if it's something unfamiliar to your readership (unlike music for example, or if you were to review Arcade Fire or something), I don't know if it's time to expect intelligent comments. Like this one I'm posting, for example, which clearly shows how I've lost the ability to communicate;)

My bottom line is that if you were to write about something like the ROM, I'm sure you'd receive a whack of dime-a-dozen comments, so I say keep writing and doing this commendable job of introducing Comp Lit-y things to the city!:)

Good point, thanks! And breakfast was great. We should do it again some time. Hope you weren't too bored sitting there for an hour :p

Hey, is the Lord of the Rings musical still playing in Toronto? Because if you covered that, I would be really interested in hearing your thoughts. Because honestly I love LOTR but christ what a train wreck.

Loved your review, but then Much Ado About Nothing is one of my favorite plays, so there ya go.

Hey! No, I don't think it's running anymore--it got pretty negative reviews. Toronto was supposed to become the "Broadway North" but when they bring back The Phantom of the Opera after it ran for like, 13 years or something...slim pickins' these days. Haven't seen it myself though--I was kind of turned off by its obvious cash-grab on the LOTR fandom.

And glad you liked the review! Thanks! :)
