Supernatural fic: 6.07 Missing Scene 1/1 [PG] Sam, Dean

Title: 6.07 Missing Scene
Rating: PG
Characters: Dean, Sam
Spoilers: up to & incl. 6.07
Notes: Missing scene between Dean & Sam on the road, after the capture of the Alpha Vamp. My take on what happened. I think something like this took place, based on two facts - Dean's “we had a plan B?” (indicating there was a Plan A), and the fact that he was waiting in the car. If Sam just left to join Samuel, Dean would have had no reason to wait. Anyway, for what it's worth, here's the scene.

6.07 Missing Scene

Wow. You don't see it, do you.

What?

You got no instinct. I mean, you are seriously messed up.

Thanks.

I'm not kidding man....

Nobody's forcing you to work with me. Okay? But if we do this.. I drive the bus. I call the shots and you tell me everything whether you think it's important or not because trust me, you can't tell the difference.

Or, you know what? Go with Samuel. See how that goes. It's up to you.

Sam's forehead creased in a slight frown.

“Okay.”

Dean's eyebrows twitched upwards. “Okay?”

The look Sam gave him was that of speaking the obvious, even though nothing was obvious any more in this crazy, mirror-cracked version of reality that Dean had found himself in these days.

“Okay, you call the shots.”

Dean didn't want to feel relieved. He wanted to be able to watch Sam... this Sam, walk away without batting an eye. Now that Sam accepted his ultimatum, he had to decide if he believed it.

So is he even still.. Sam?

The thing was, when he'd asked Cas that question, the angel hadn't said yes or no. You pose an interesting philosophical question. What kind of confusing mumbo jumbo was that?

It wasn't yes.

Problem was, it also wasn't a definite no.

“Just like that?”

“Of course, just like that.”

“Why?”

Sam gave Dean a repeat of the isn't it obvious? look.

“Because if Samuel's not Dad, he's definitely not you. So what do we do?”

It was easier to think about this like it was a hunt. Samuel was still the only clue.

“We need to find out what he's up to with the alphas. You don't know where he takes them?”

Sam shook his head. “He said I didn't need to know.”

Dean managed to refrain from banging his forehead on the Impala's roof. “And you were okay leaving it at that.”

Sam shrugged. “Shady?”

“Damn right, it's shady.” Dean shook his head. “Something tells me if we just walk in and demand to know what he's doing, we're going to get squat. He doesn't 'know me' like he does you.” Not quite a sneer, but definitely cynical.

Dean half expected Sam to argue with him on the point. Sam hardly missed a beat.

“So I tell him you and I had a falling out. Try to get him to let me in on the interrogations.”

When Dean didn't reject the idea out of hand, Sam waited.

So many things went through Dean's mind. However uncomfortable he might be with Sam 2.0, knowing that he was even in some part his brother, that this Sam was the only connection Dean had right now to the real Sam, the complete Sam, taking the risk of letting him go off on his own, and how unpredictable that could end up being, it was really the only choice he had.

It was also a roll of the dice.

Hey.

You didn't think I'd come back.

I figured sixty- forty.

So, Samuel didn't take the bait, so I went with Plan B.

We had a Plan B?

Fired up the GPS on one of his cell phones. We should be able to track him right to the Alpha.

The old man won't notice?

Trust me, he thinks Velcro is big news.... Got him.
