[The way she says it is shaky, as her faith and trust in Erik has just been broken by Alex. She wants to believe the best in Erik, so she's going to desperately cling hold to the thought that Alex is just being bitter and acting like she does toward Nathan when she's angry.
And to Charles, she tries to sap away some of the bitterness left by her last statement.]
