[Ho-hum. Blair looks as bored as can be with life. Her chin is resting in the palm of her hand and she's staring off at nothing in particular, glaring at the area around her as if it's to blame for her being bored.]

I assume since someone else took the time to mention Christmas, that it must be coming up. Or at least, should be coming up for some ( Read more... )

What's Christmas?

I think the Festival of Life's coming up. Or it would be - holidays are different in this time.

Christmas is supposed to be a religious holiday, but fortunately for people who have others that love them, it's been commercialized to a point where the primary focus is giving someone a gift better than everyone else. There's also parties, meals, trees, and lights involved. But really, the point to focus on here is it's one of the only times of year Daddy comes in from France and I get everything I've asked for.

Also, Dorota says calories don't count on Christmas, and I'm inclined to want to believe her.

Sounds like Fete Week. Except for the trees and - France.

Calories don't count?

[She nods eagerly.] Which clearly means you can eat whatever you'd like.

And not get sick or anything, huh? That does sound nice.

Well, I suppose if you eat enough you would get sick. I was referring to the fact that calories don't count, so you don't have to worry about gaining unsightly weight. No one wants to end the holidays by being fat.

...Huh.

[He scratches his neck and looks painfully earnest.]

I um, I don't think you have to worry about that.

[Small child, Blair thinks you're highly endearing.]

Really?

Well, I have been careful here lately, which is exactly why one day of eating isn't going to hurt anything.

You don't... look fat. To me. [Luke's aware that this is a touchy subject with a lot of girls, so he's trying to be careful.]

It wouldn't, I think.

In that case, you're invited to my Christmas dinner, assuming I find someone that's capable of cooking one.

[He seems startled.]

Um... thanks.

What would you put into that kind of dinner, anyway?

Do I look like someone that cooks an entire dinner and has the time to remember what to cook each year? My only job is remembering to have Dorota make a pie that I take credit for.

I can't tell. Sorry.

So... pies.

Do you like pie, little chatty boy?

They're all right. The sweet ones are better, of course.

And I'm Luke.

The only kind of decent pie is a sweet pie. And I'll tell you what, Luke, you're now responsible for bringing pie to my Christmas dinner. I hope you enjoy the responsibility.
