11th life - We started singin'... [video]

[Hello Coruscant.Nice to see you not on fire for once. The Doctor looks suitably casual and relaxed for the lack of imminent death and destruction this week. He's just lounging in a chair, spinning his sonic screwdriver idly in his hand.]What kind of chaos comes in bursts and then ebbs away as if it's recovering itself? Still, it is nice of the ( Read more... )

Oh right, it is Christmas soon.
*sighs* I realize, this is going to be the first christmas without my family. I always spend Christmas with them.
It's going to be rather lonely...

[Have a sympathetic smile.] I can't offer family, but you don't have to spend it alone.

I guess. Though I haven't really gotten close to anyone yet for it to feel the same

Correct me if I'm wrong... but doesn't something exciting always involve you on Christmas? One year it was the Sycorax Invasion... then the next... [Luckily he catches himself and stops, remembering at the last moment that this Doctor hasn't gotten to the other Christmases of Titanic ships and the entire Earth being put under the Master's thrall. Jack's still thankful he was off-world for that bit.] Err, nevermind.

Suffice to say, I sure hope Earth can survive without you this year.

I don't think that will be a problem, Jack, unless you recall a specific year I happened to be missing during Christmas. [That's not really an invitation for spoilers, Jack.] I've said before, the only way we'll be able to safely reintegrate into our timelines and universes is if we return to the moment we left.

[Shrugs] Nope, not that I can think of. Thankfully, I might add.

I hope for both our sakes we manage to pull that one off. And not just because I have a good idea of what happens in yours... but I'm also pretty curious to see what does in mine.

You know, we should put together a Christmas dinner. Rose can make her infamous purple chips, and I'm sure we could find something like ham somewhere.

... Christmas? [What is this foreign holiday that she hasn't been allowed to celebrate for an entire year?]

I almost forgot it even existed. I think that's a sign I've been here too long.

[It's this thing he just made up to make people cheer up.] Well, isn't that the way of Christmas? It's always gone just long enough for it to be new and fresh by the time it comes back.

I miss Christmas. And birthdays, I miss those too. [Really, she just misses anything where she gets gifts.]

I think we should definitely celebrate it this year.

Have you been skipping birthdays? [It's a legitimate thing to miss.] Oh, definitely. Coruscant could use a Christmas break.

How can you tell that it's coming up?

Let's just say I'm very good at keeping track of time. [Also he just made it up to cheer people up.]

It feels like a long time since I last celebrated Christmas.

Foreshadowing. D'you know you're disturbingly good at it? Think we better start stocking up, to be honest. Gather everyone in, fill the cupboards, and wait out the Christmas week like we're in a bunker.

Rose, that's a very un-festive approach to Christmas.
