[Kurt had heard about Logan and like Charles, he was taking it hard. Back home, he had a close friendship with the man, or he had before Excalibur happened and a lot of confusing stuff that went on. Even though this was a different man, it was still Logan, it was still Wolverine and whether the man had wanted it or not, he had considered him a friend. And losing friends always hit him harder than any physical attack could. He'd sat on his bed, drew a knee up as close to his chest as he could and had just stared off into nothing, occasionally listening to things across the datapad.
That was when he heard Charles and he allowed himself to focus and look at the datapad as the professor spoke. Then he was sat bolt upright, eyes wide, ignoring the pain that flared up at his movements as he gripped onto the device and answered.]
Charles! Charles are you okay?
[He wasn't yelling but he clearly sounded worried, his own thoughts echoed this but sounded more panicked, more worried and rushed mixed with 'oh no oh no oh no's.]
[Sorry to worry you, Kurt. Normally he'd be quick to allay anyone's concerns because he hates people fussing but at the moment he's not even aware of being on the floor, of his body jerking as his systems struggle for attention from an overloaded mind.
Because Coruscant is still burning; the thoughts and emotions of the rioters' a hurricane force of input the likes of which he's never been subjected. Inwardly he's erecting shields as fast and furious as he can but it's rather like trying to sandbag against a tsunami as its already rolled past.]
[Kurt was worried about him, and damn straight he was going to be fussing, the man just suddenly fell to the floor and looked like he was convulsing. Not a pretty sight on any occasion and right now Kurt wanted to be there to help his friend, to reassure him that...that what? It was okay? Things would be fine? Kurt had no idea what was happening to the man, how could he say things would be okay?
He tried to calm himself, there was no point in almost being hysterical when trying to...talk to someone and...calm them? What was he even doing? Kurt had to look away and grit his teeth. If he knew where he was he could get there, doctors be damned. Was Erik near him?]
[It takes a few minutes, long enough for Erik to reach him and perhaps Kurt hears the two voices in the distance, before the data pad feed shifts and comes around to show Charles' face.]

[ In the aftermath of arriving at the hospital with Kurt in tow, Charles had left Erik to the care of the medical personnel before running down a corridor and out of sight. While normally Erik wouldn't have minded - the two men being independent as they come - in their present state, he didn't trust Charles to be left alone. The silence was one thing, Erik imagined it would be near identical to the constant hum of metal, the briefest feeling bonds in a near reactive state, reforming with each other, all under his control, but not being a telepath meant that this would never be as strong as the perpetual chatter of conversation from peopleErik had always been a restless creature, and the constant advice from the nurses to remain in bed despite a functioning shoulder (as far as he was concerned, it didn't hurt) was largely ignored as he paced around the room initially before the startlingly familiar voice of Charles came across the discarded datapad and the window behind him was surprisingly familiar - his own
( ... )
[ What Charles had done was completely oblivious to Erik, whose thoughts were only focused on the man in front of him, reassuring nudges that Charles could put himself back together in the aftermath of his power coming back full speed. He watched the shift in expression impassively, the slightest concern only showing when Charles snapped back, pain physically evident in the younger mutant's eyes
( ... )
[In what was perhaps the most telling indicator of his state of mind, Charles lifted a hand to lay it against Erik's cheek as he rested, forehead to forehead with the man. When the older mutant moved back and nudged him to his feet, Charles simply went with the suggestion, his shoulders slumped as he let Erik call the shots for the moment.]
It was not a kind death, [he continued softly, head down.] I never imagined we could be this vulnerable.
[Again, he'd underestimated the challenges facing them, had failed to see a key piece on the board. He stood there, trying to find where exactly he'd missed this coming but his thoughts just spun to a stand still and he frowned. He tried again, only to have his mental wheels grind to a halt once more and finally he gave his head a shake and reached up to lightly touch Erik's shoulder.]
[Her answer both reassures and also sinks his mood. Reassures because well, she's alright and that is important to him, important to Erik. But it also drives home that if he'd just been able to help Logan hold on until...
Setting his teeth against his own thoughts, Charles grabbed them and firmly shoved them aside for the time being. He put his focus on Claire and Claire alone, who sounded healthy and well and that was what was important now.]
That is fantastic, Claire. I'm very happy to hear you're all right and I'm certain your father is quite relieved.
We'll be okay. [She nods, smiling a little despite her concern.]
Thanks for helping us. I was pretty sure we were both going to die, and I didn't mind it happening to me again, but I didn't want to watch my dad die before I did.
[By the time he responded, Charles was once again lucid, if perhaps a bit pale but you would be hard pressed to find anyone who didn't look a tad stressed at the moment.]
Ah, yes, Senator. My apologies if I caused you concern. How are you and Claire faring?
