All I'd ever wanted was to be normal, before. But this - this doesn't feel right at all.

It's like nothing's real anymore. [He ducks off-screen for a moment, comes up with a helpless little spukamas kitten in his hand, staring down at it blankly.] It's like this isn't even alive.

[The animal squeaks. Luke mutters, "Sorry" and puts it back.]

[Bethany nods, understanding. She hasn't been able to convey her feelings on the situation up until now, but Luke's summed it up pretty well.]

In Thedas, when a mage's connection to the Fade - or the Force, as it were - is severed... it's like losing your humanity. It's much, much worse than this. But - this is still nothing I'd want anyone to go through. And I feel so useless.

[He winces a little.] Worse? What happens? ...Humanity? [What with so many separate sentient species around, the concept exists for him, but it's not tied to the human species.]

Tranquil can't dream, so they... they have no emotion. It's... It keeps them from being possessed by demons, but-- [She cuts herself off, biting her lip.] Sad, isn't it? But it's nothing we need worry about out here, thank the Maker.

[She pauses, shaking her head and offering Luke a small smile.] Thank you. Hopefully I can prove you right.

That's... terrible. Yeah...

It feels bad. But you can still think, and talk, and move. You're useful for less, but you can still help if someone needs you, right?

That's right... and there are people I still want to keep safe, even if I can't use my magic to do so. I'll just have to be a little more creative about it.

Yeah! Even with nothing else, there's still the datapads. Getting to talk to someone far away, and see what they see, we get used to it, but it's not a small thing.
