[ filtered to outworlders ]

[ Buffy starts the broadcast just before she gets home from this. She's on a familiar street just outside the scooby apartment when the video turns on. She looks pissed. More pissed than she's ever been. ]

The Crimson Terror's still alive and well on this planet. Those warehouses, they weren't their only base. [ ( Read more... )

[The broadcast catches his attention. He can see Buffy's on the warpath. Part of him wants to send the Crimson Terror a gift basket. But if she's right and they're going after Outworlders, then maybe he'll be a target too. And Lilah. They'll need to step up security for Petrelli for sure.

There's also that mention of there being a collaborator. He needs to nip that in the bud now.]

I hope you're not gonna try pinning this one on me. Because I had nothing to do with it.

Maybe not directly. But it's still your mess. Your monster. [ She's pretty much shaking with fury at this point. Because as much as she wants to say Lindsey is completely culpable, she knows he only did the influencing. Wolfram & Hart is tangentially to blame for what Angel's become, but not liable for his actions now that he is that way. And Lindsey's still just human. ]

What the hell are you talking about? I've got no ties to-

[Then it dawns on him what she's implying. What she's accusing him of.]

Wait- Angel's the collaborator?

[ There's a burn of shame and humiliation in her face and she swallows it back, trying to keep her jaw set. Trying not to falter. ]

No. Not Angel. Angel's long gone. I hope you're happy. I hope you're proud.

Human. They're ... They're just human. Maybe some aliens, I don't know. It's -- [ She pinches the bridge of her nose, shaking her head. ] They're terrorists. They inspire terror. It's in the name.

Them again? You'd think they'd take a hint. [huffs] Leastways they're facing us directly now, instead of getting up to their old tricks. [Like planting bombs and starting plagues. So far, anyway.]

If it weren't for the unpleasant lethality of the whole situation, I might almost be flattered that someone out there thinks we're worth this much attention.

What kind of sympathy card do you send to the terrorist organization that wants your head on a plate to best convey "please leave the planet before I make it your headstone"?

Got me; sympathy isn't exactly my strong suit. Though I've found that an oversized chakram in an uncomfortable place usually tends to get most messages across. [dark smirk] Though with these guys, even that might not be enough.

Thanks for the heads-up, by the way. If any of them happen to come after me, I hope they enjoy spending time in burn wards, cause they're likely to become intimately aquainted with them once I'm done. [The same holds true if any of them try anything against Tron or Flynn as well, though he doesn't mention this...]

No. [ Her tone is sharp and tetchy. ] No deaths. If they want blood on their hands, that's their business. We're better than that.

Crimson Terror? [ He's heard the name before, drawn in at the mention of them. ]

Exactly why would such a group be after us in the first place?

Racism seems to be the long and short of it.

[ Clearly. ] Helpful.

You tell me I'm being targeted -- [ Again for that matter. ] -- and then give me a roundabout answer. So let's start from the beginning, dear. Mistaken identities only give rise to further questions, so why were you wrongly attacked?

[ After speaking, Erik turns the feed to private, giving them a bit more security to discuss matters. ]

[ It's not fair to take it out on him, but the patronizing demand makes her snap. ]

Because my evil ex-boyfriend decided that he wanted a trip down the morally shady brick road again. And now, memory lane means it's try to kill Buffy time, so he gave all his cult-y, anti-Revanite buddies a heads up on how to track me down. There's your why.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go deal with that instead of walking you through who the Crimson Terror is and what they're responsible for. You want a better answer? You've got a datapad, look it up.

Kill me. He -- Someone sent them after me. Tried to have me killed. [ With Jo, the anger gives way to a kind of shaky, vulnerable tone. She's hurt. More than anything, she's hurt, and the anger just keeps her from giving into it. ]

And who here would want you dead, Buffy? [Jo's in game mode. Despite everything else going on today, her friend needs her help, and she's going to help out as best as she can.

She tries to smile, to give Buffy strength. She hears that wobbly tone and understands it, but also knows enough to not comment on it. Hurting Buffy's pride isn't going to get them anywhere.]

You tell me whatever you know, I'll work on figuring out how to take care of this. You need to just take care of yourself and your sister right now, make sure you guys stay inside and safe.

[ Could her shame and humiliation be greater? Because the reminder that Dawn is in danger just cuts her deep. It wasn't just her own safety she was burying and jeopardizing. It was Dawn's. How coulds he be so -- She quiets and looks away. The guilt is evident. ]

I already know.
