[Ed's had a pretty rotten night of sleep himself. His dreams usually aren't pleasant, but this one's just been plain weird, however no less disturbing. And despite it being something so completely different, he finds it strange how he can remember the details so vividly. If he lets his thoughts linger, he can even feel the hits he'd taken, the slash on his arm--
No. No, that isn't right. Not him. Her. Some girl named Buffy, that's what that Angel-person had called her. And he wasn't just any person either, he was someone important to her. Someone she had to sacrifice...
The young alchemist has been sitting there on his bed, having lost track of time, but hearing not only his name but Al's as well is what draws him out of his thoughts. What are the odds of hearing both those names together, much less that they're brothers- and orphans. The latter sounds odd even to him- he'd never considered himself an orphan, but that's because their father, absent as he'd been, was still alive. -but that isn't the point.

[Riley's awake the instant she begins to flail and scream in her sleep. His initial assumption is that some sort of alien parasite has crept into bed and ... bitten her or something, but he quickly realizes that she hasn't even woken up yet.
Apparently he never got the memo that you aren't supposed to touch someone that's having a seizure, because he immediately sets out trying to wake her by calling out to her as a hand goes to touch her shoulder. Obviously it doesn't really do much good.
When Buffy sits up suddenly and begins sobbing like a mess, Riley's sitting up with her, immediately moving closer to embrace her and offer some sort of comfort because she's ... well, a lot more shaken than he's ever seen her, really]
[ Buffy's eyes go wide like a frightened animal when Riley touches her, her arms folded to her chest as she looks up at him, not entirely seeing him yet judging by how distant she looks. She pauses for a moment before starting to fight his hold. ]
No. No, no, I saw her, she -- Dawnie. Something's wrong, it came back wrong, I saw it, I -- And the blood. God, there was so much -- [ Slowly, her fists uncurl and she looks down at her palms in front of her, lip beginning to tremble. The blood. She can still see the blood all over her hands. Her blood. Her mother's blood -- no. No, not her mother's. It wasn't even her. It wasn't. It came back wrong. It wasn't -- Her expression slowly contorts again with fear and anguish, unable to force herself to look away from her hands. ]
[Okay, yeah. He's definitely never seen her this shaken before--not even back when her mom was in the hospital and that vampire managed to best her.
He backs off slightly when she makes it clear she isn't comfortable with the lack of space between them, and then reaches for one of her hands to try and distract her from her post-nightmare trance]
Dawn's fine, Buffy. She's asleep in the next room. [Said as he threads his fingers through hers] You were dreaming. It was just a dream.
[ Her panic attack seems to slow down a little but the distantness is still there. It's Riley's touch that is tethering her. She stares down at his hand in hers, then follows it back to him, eyes still wide and downright terrified. ] No. [ She shakes her head, slowly at first, then picks it up and repeats the word over and over and over. She stops entirely and swallows thickly.
Then, something seems to set in -- her mom. The thing. Not her mom, her mom was gone. Her mom was going to be gone when she got back and there was nothing. Nothing she could do and that was going to be her. With its awful ribs and it -- and it wasn't even her, it wasn't even her. ] Mommy ... [ She loses it again, beginning to sob and leaning against Riley finally, squeezing hand. ]
