So, I've been thinking- yes, yes, everyone who has some snide comment about that get it out now, first shot is free- anyway, I've been thinking about the ah... "Force" discussions going around lately. You know, the 'burn the witch' and then the staunch self righteous defenses of magic and what not. I've been told I write- uh, will write- a mean ( Read more... )

[Luke laughs. The eggs of dragons on his world are actually edible, but the parents are so fierce that the point still works. And who doesn't like pyrotechnics?]

[no one, that's who B) and Anders just bows because he is a ham and also happy people aren't scared or offended of his magic for once.] I'm here on weekends- and weekdays. Pretty much whenever.

Week ends? [Officially, the SW universe keeps to five-day weeks. Unofficially it depends on the author, but Luke, at this age, is on the five-day.]

So how do you do the fire?

[Oh SW, ruining all of Anders' jokes] You know, the time when you have a break to do whatever foolish thing your hearts desire?

Magic- where I come from it happens, sort of like the force does here. It's a bit different here, the magic that is, but somethings are in your blood I guess. Or fingertips. [He snaps a flame into life to punctuate that]

[Blank look, and a shrug.] Evenings? Nights? When there's a bad storm? [There are few regularly scheduled lazy days in the life of a moisture farmer. It's basically subsistence living.]

I have the Force. I didn't know you can make fire with it. [He's raising his hand in the same kind of way, but Luke can't snap his fingers, apparently.]

You are far too young to sound like you need more breaks. I take it you aren't from the friendlies place around.

[Hmmmm] Well I could always try to teach you, if you're interested. Managed to teach Lily how to make fireballs, though she did have magical training under her belt. Still, the Force can't be all that much different than magic. All about energy and how you manipulate it.

Tatooine's rough. [And another shrug.] And I did get breaks, but it's important to keep the vaporators up. They need a lot of maintenance.

I'd like that!

Vaporators? Sounds... technical.

[He grins] Excellent! How about tomorrow afternoon, have free time to learn the age old art of fireballs?

They're machines that pull water out of the air. Very useful. Very boring. Always breaking. [He rolls his eyes.]

Lesee... yeah! Sounds good!

The name sounds boring. Trust me, making fireballs will be much more fun. Sounds like you could use it.

Tomorrow it is- do you know where the Jedi temple is? They have training rooms, good for vaguely dangerous practicing- [...] Uh, I suppose I should ask if your parents would shoot me for this.

[His mun forgot. Feh.]

Oh - wait - I'm going to Mon Cal with the Outworlder Jedi. It's almost all ocean!

Maybe when I get back?
